The magnitude of the shear stress and bending stress depends on the member location and characteristics. The shear stress at any given point can be determined by the following relation.
Where, τ=Shear stress at the point.
A= Cross-sectional area of the member.
y=Distance between the centroidal axis.
I=Moment of inertia of the member.
B=Width of member at that point.
