Basin and range desert in North America is arid physiographic region with abrupt Geomorphic features covering narrow faulted mountain range and flat arid valleys and basins hence it is called as basin and range desert. The basin contains normal listric faults and horst and graben fault due to associated shearing in San Andreas Fault.
Alluvium fans and playa are desert landforms .Alluvium fan is the triangular deposit of gravel ,sand and silt collectively called as alluvium. Alluvium fans are created as river water carrying sediments interact with the mountains hills and canyons while playas are flat bottomed depression found in interior to basin in arid region. They are generally filled with water that percolates to groundwater or evaporates leaving the salt deposition at the boundary of depression.
