Why are earthquakes focused along plate margins?
What are the sources of heat in Earth's interior?
An earthquake is the sign or result of sudden energy release from the interior of the earth. An earthquake can cause by natural activities or human activities. Mainly this energy release is the result of faulting.
Plate margins are the area of active plate movements. These active plate movements can be convergent plate movement, divergent plate movement, or transform plate movement.
The earthquake can occur along with all these three (Convergent plate movement, divergent plate movement, and transform plate movement ) plate movements. Plate margins are the area of highly active tectonic zones where faulting is one of the very common phenomena. There are several faults present and generated by tectonic activity near the plate margins, which causes sudden and huge energy release from the area, leading to more earthquakes.
