The quantum yield (Φ) is a measure of the efficiency of photon emission as defined by the ratio of the number of photons emitted to the number of photons absorbed.In addition to the participation in free-radical chemistry initiated by homolytic bond dissociation reactions of arylamines, the hydrocarbons appear to initiate and undergo dehydrogenation reactions following the electronic excitation caused by the recombination of charge carriers or by the absorption of a photon. 9(t-butyl) anthracence has Lower absorption of photon and it efficiency of photon emission is less  as compared to 9-methyl anthracence
