Dipole-dipole interaction refers to the electrostatic attraction between two polar molecules. In a polar molecule, the electrons are not shared equally between the atoms, resulting in a partial positive charge on one end of the molecule and a partial negative charge on the other end.

When two polar molecules are close to each other, the partial positive end of one molecule is attracted to the partial negative end of the other molecule, and vice versa. This results in a dipole-dipole interaction or a van der Waals force.
