Expert Solution
Step 1
The female reproductive system gives several functions. The ovaries create the egg cells, named the ova or oocytes. The oocytes are then brought to the fallopian tube where fertilization by sperm takes place. The fertilized egg then travels to the uterus, where the uterine wall has expanded in reply to the normal hormones of the reproductive cycle. Once in the uterus, the fertilized egg can insert into the enlarged uterine lining and proceed to grow. If implantation does not occur, the uterine wall is discarded as menstrual discharge. In extension, the female reproductive system provides female sex hormones that support the reproductive cycle.
