Which girdle, the pelvic or the pectoral, helps to determine the sex of a skeleton? How?
The skeletal system of the body consists of bones and joints. The bones of the skeletal system responsible for providing structural framework are connected to each other by joints. The human skeletal system can be divided into two types of the skeleton: the axial skeleton and appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton includes all those bones that form the vertical and central axis of the body. The bones of the head, neck, chest, and back makeup the axial skeleton. The appendicular skeleton, on the other hand, is formed by all the bones of the upper and lower limbs, as well as the bones that attach each limb to the axial skeleton, such as, shoulder and pelvic girdle. The bones of the appendicular skeleton are said to be append or attached to the central axis formed by the axial skeleton.
