Gene Interactions
When the expression of a single trait is influenced by two or more different non-allelic genes, it is termed as genetic interaction. According to Mendel's law of inheritance, each gene functions in its own way and does not depend on the function of another gene, i.e., a single gene controls each of seven characteristics considered, but the complex contribution of many different genes determine many traits of an organism.
Gene Expression
Gene expression is a process by which the instructions present in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are converted into useful molecules such as proteins, and functional messenger ribonucleic (mRNA) molecules in the case of non-protein-coding genes.
Which are Requirements of DNA polymerase?
Polymerase chain reaction used to make thousands of copies of DNA from very small amount of the DNA available.
The 3 main steps in PCR are,
- Denaturing
- Annealing
- Extending
Denaturing: denaturing is a process of heating the sample that contains double stranded DNA so, that it denatures and separates into 2 single stranded DNA molecules.
Annealing: it is a step in which the temperature is lowered so, the primers attach to the DNA molecule to start the replication process.
Extending: it is process in which the temperature is again raised so, the new strand of the which is producing from the old DNA extends in the length after the primer is attached, it is possible with the help of the Taq polymerase enzyme.
4 components we need for PCR to occur are
- DNA sample also called DNA template strand which we need to amplify
- DNA primers
- Free nucleotides ddNTPs
- Taq DNA polymerase enzyme
