The brain ventricles are referred to as the four cavities that is located within the brain that contain cerebrospinal fluid. The ventricles are having interconnections with each other, and with the central canal of the spinal cord and with the subarachnoid space. The CSF is produced by the lining of the ventricles and then circulates throughout the ventricular system and is eventually reabsorbed in the subarachnoid space. It is vital for the normal functioning of the central nervous system and protects the brain by acting as a shock absorber against head trauma or injury.
