Hello! This answers are based on WW2 " Can all you can" poster. 1. This poster was trying to encourage American and British citizens to can their grown produce from their "victory gardens." The purpose of this argument was too limit citizens dependence on food rations. 2. The context of this poster is that, during WW2 there were often food shortages which caused the government to start rationing the food that was available. The audience for this specific poster would be any U.S or British Citizen who was healthy enough to garden. 3. I feel like the first appeal that I found most obvious was ethos, in the fact that this poster was distributed by the U.S. Government, which holds a lot of authority. I noticed Pathos at the bottom of the poster where it says " IT'S A REAL WAR JOB!" this suggests that by canning their produce they would be helping advance the war effort. . An example of logos for this poster would be If you can all your produce, you are helping the war end sooner. 4. The respective governments of both America and Britain at the time, made and distributed this poster, they are credible. 5. The Line of "Can all you Can" and then the line at the bottom saying "IT'S A REAL WAR JOB!" says to the audience that by canning your own produce, you are essentially helping the war effort. 6. With the food shortage, the government wanted to encourage civilians too plant victory gardens and can their produce in order to ensure food supply for both civilians and troops. 7. The way that the vegetables and fruits are drawn to look appetizing would definitely contribute towards the argument as many citizens probably missed nice, fresh produce due to it being in short supply. 8. I feel like the language and style used in this poster in instances such as at the bottom where is says, "IT'S A REAL WAR JOB!" You notice that in both the bottom line and the title itself, all words are in caps. This shows the audience that the text is typographically yelling which solidifies the importance of the meaning of the poster. 9. I believe this argument is made effectively because, they used 2 forms of Pathos, an appeal to ethos, and also an appeal to logos. It was really smart of them to put that line at the bottom, as citizens wanted the war to end and by saying that anybody could can their produce and help the war effort, I believe that encouraged many people further to do it.
