Introduction- Fasteners are a broad category of tools that include screws, nuts, and bolts that have the same purpose: to mechanically hold objects together. Glue, for example, could serve this purpose, but paste is not a form of fasteners. As a result, we must to expand our definitions. Things are mechanically held together through metal fasteners.
Fasteners usually produce a non-permanent connection. In other words, if you use a fastener to link two components, you should be able to remove it without causing any damage to the separate portions. A welded junction, on the other hand, would not be the same.Rivets, which are classified as fasteners yet generate permanent joins, are the only exception to this rule.
Though most fasteners produce a non-permanent joint, this does not imply that you only use them when you need to disassemble something, nor does it imply that the joint is in any way weak. Fasteners can reliably hold objects together that are subjected to a lot of stress.
