What process produced the spores of a fern?
Ans. All vascular plants have a change of generations during their life cycles: the generation of sporophytes and the generation of gametophytes. The multi-cellular sporophyte is commonly classified as a fern plant in ferns. Sporangia is on the underside of the fronds. Spore cells known as sporogenous cells are formed inside the sporangia. The meiosis of these cells leads to haploid spores. Many ferns have the same size and purpose as the spores. That is why ferns are called Homosporous plants. The sporangia are typically located on the bottom of the fern leaves in clusters known as sori. Some ferns are classified as an indusium for the sporangia. The spores are released from the sporangia when they are mature. If a spore lands on a suitable location, it sprouts into a mature gametophyte plant and grows through mitosis.
