What methods is used to identify straphylococcous aureus?
Bacteria are microscopic organisms which belong to prokaryote because these are unicellular organisms. Bacteria are divided into various typed based on their shape like cocci, spirlla, bacilli etc and on staining into gram positive and gram negative stain bacteria.
Based on the staining the bacteria are of 2 types gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria. Gram positive bacteria have thick peptidoglycan layer in the cell wall and in gram negative bacteria the cell wall is very thin and based on the oxygen consumption there are different types, aerobic, anerobic, obligate aerobic, obligate anaerobic, facultative anaerobes, microaerophiles, aerotolerant anaerobes.
Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive microorganism which causes the Disease: pneumonia
Signs and symptoms: cough, tachypnoea, pleural effusion are respiratory signs
Differential media is a type of growth media used in the labs to grow and differentiate or distinguish between the bacteria species. It is possible because of the ingredients used in it and a selective medium selects a specific type of organisms.
