Interval data:

On top of ordinal data, interval data is built. It not only describes the order of the values, but also the consistency of the intervals between succeeding values. A good illustration of this is the temperature in degrees Celsius, where the difference between 1 degree and 5 degrees is equal to the difference between 20 and 24 degrees, or 4 degrees. Note that this was not the case for ordinal data: we cannot claim that the difference between graduating from a university and a high school is the same as the difference between the two when comparing the two.
