A shear connection is a type of joint connection that is installed in the structures to allow load transfer between two members. This connection carried the normal load and shear load, or sometimes can also carry a combination of both loads. In most cases, the shear connection is created between beams or between beams and columns, as it helps in reducing the relaiance on connections that support moments. Deck slabs, metro platforms, and Railway bridges are mostly designed with help of shear connections. The most common type of steel shear connector is a plate-to-plate or plate-to-angle steel shear connector which connects two plates together with an angle bracket welded to each side of the plates and then welded together at one end.
