  1. We first consider the longest carbon chain .
  2. We numbering the functional group in such a way where the functional group attached to the carbon atom get the smallest number 
  3. AT the last if it is alkane we added -an if it is alkene we added -ene ,if it is alkyne then we added -yne.
  4. if the carbon number is 1 then meth, 2 then eth,3 then prop, 4 then bute, 5 then pent.
  5. if the most priodity group are on the same side then it is cis and the most priodity group are in the oppsite side then it is trans .
