What is the distinction between being “biologically” human and being “socially” human?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Society is a web of social relationships. Society is a nexus of individuals who form institutions that are run on different behavioral patterns. Every individual is born into a society. Society and individual are inseparable, they are necessary and complementary to each other. As soon as we are born, the world gets to work on us and transforms us from merely biological into social beings. Every individual at every stage of history is born into a society, and from his earliest years, is molded by that society. The language that he speaks is not an individual inheritance but a social acquisition from the group in which he grows up. It is well said that an individual distant from the society is speechless and mindless.

We become social groups from biological self by acquiring the various aspects of the culture of a society. Culture means personal refinement which means the person knows how to conduct himself in all of the social situations to which he is likely to be exposed. A person acquires the culture of a society by learning the various components of culture. Norms, values, mores, folkways, ideologies, ideas values, mores, folkways, customs, etc., are the various components of culture.
