![Sum of fields
The sequence of questions on the right will guide you to calculate the net magnetic
field at a point due to multiple sources.
In the case shown in the figure below, the sources of the magnetic field are two
current-carrying wires.
Wire-1 carries a 12A current pointing Up, and Wire-2 carries a 10A current
pointing Left. (indicated by (b) on the figure.)

The net magnetic field at any point can be calculated as the vector sum of the field
contributions from each wire.
In other words, to find the net field, we need to find the field from each wire, and
their relative orientations. If the fields point in the same direction, their
magnitudes add up. If they point in opposite directions, then the net field's
magnitude is the difference between the magnitudes, and the direction is that of
the stronger field.](/v2/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.bartleby.com%2Fqna-images%2Fquestion%2F86546da6-58c7-4384-8a8e-1318a5c89f9f%2F1c3c918e-8381-4dcd-9ee2-77ca188f1e0b%2F5ufc9eg_processed.png&w=3840&q=75)
