What is the classification of
The fungi are members of eukaryotic organisms the include microorganisms as well as multicellular organisms. They are classified as a kingdom separate from the eukaryotic life kingdoms of animals and plants. They contain chitin in their cell walls which places fungi in a different kingdom from bacteria, plants, and some protists. They are heterotrophs that means they cannot make their own food by the process of carbon fixation. They derive their food intake from other sources of organic carbon such as animal and plant matter.
The kingdom fungi is classified into five major phyla that are established on the basis of their mode of sexual reproduction. These five true phyla of fungi are: Chytridiomycota, Zygomycota, Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, and Glomeromycota. Deuteromycota is an informal group of unrelated fungi. They strictly use asexual mode of reproduction.
