Sustainability in sociology is defined as all the people on this earth living with superior living conditions without compromising them for future generations. Sociology of development & environmental sociology focuses on this extensively in achieving equal living conditions for the people living on this earth.

EXPLANATION

Sustainability is defined in the form of three pillars—economy, society, Environment. Sustainable development focuses on providing equal living conditions to all people on this earth and protecting natural resources. This projects the integration of three factors to attain this goal.

Economic sustainability: The rapidly growing Economies should help the under-developed countries develop their economies. It explains to make the equal phase of growth among all the countries.

Environmental sustainability: the technology should be developed to overcome the losses incurred to Environment. Technology must be used to solve environmental problems and preserve the available natural resources.

Social sustainability: several social problems like poverty, unemployment, access to food and cloth has to be equally done by all the countries around the world. It also suggests maintaining the freedom of choice and liberty of the individual in fulfilling his requirements.

Sociology sees sustainability as a key concept in the social change process. It is seen as a value shared by the individuals and different organizations in the society who project them in their policies. It says to promote the solutions to use the resources in such a way that they can replenish at the same pace of our usage.
