What is seek time?
What is seek time?
Seek time is calculated by the time taken for a hard disk controller to locate a specific piece of stored data.
Other delays that occur while calculating include transfer time,i.e, data rate, and rotational delay which means latency.
To a disk drive. If something is read or written, the read/write head of the disc should move to the right position.
SEEKING- This actual physical positioning of the head of the read/write of the disc is called seeking.
The amount of time that it takes the read/write head of the disc to move from one part of the disk to another is called the seek time. The seek time can differ which is due to the varying distance from the start point to where the read/write head has been instructed to go. Due to this, seek time can also be measured as an average seek time.
