What is Natural rubber ? How are they composed ?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Natural rubber is a type of elastomer and elastomers are polymers that have viscoelasticity that means they exhibit viscosity as well as elasticity and have weak intermolecular forces between them. The main example of an elastomer is rubber.

Step 2

Natural rubbers are composed are made by harvesting it from mainly 2500 types of a rubber tree and is extracted in the form of latex.

Latex is a sticky liquid form of a colloidal liquid which is collected from the trees by cutting the bark of trees and the collecting process is named as tapping. To prevent the collected product or sap from solidifying, ammonia is added. And further acid is added so that rubber is extracted by the process called coagulation.

Then the water from the extracted rubber is removed which is further sent for processing.
