Diagnostic Statiscal Manual 5 (DSM-5) has replaced Asperger's Disorder , Autistic disorder and other pervasive developmental disorders within the umbrella diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Pervasive developmental disorders are acutely disabling conditions difficult to understand and treat. They are a result of structural anomalities in brain present at birth or is evident as a child grows.

Asperger’s disorder was first described by Hans Asperger in 1944.It is also referred to an autistic spectrum disorder. Although the impaired pattern of behavior appears later than many other pervasive developmental disorders, but leads to substantial long term impairments.
The disorder majorly involves social impairment disorder, restricted interests and repetitive behavioral mannerism with autistic disorder.

According to DSM 5, Asperger’s is categorized by severe and sustained deficits in interpersonal interactions, impairments in facial expression, body postures and gestures inhibit the individuals into indulging in peer relationships. They further lack social and emotional reciprocity. They have repetitive motor oddities or persistent preoccupation with objects.
