What is mean by norms and how each society establish it?
Norms are one of the basic elements of group structure. Society or social groups are an organized system of individuals interacting with each other having common motives and goals and certain norms that regulate the behavior of its members.
The interactions in a society are structured by roles and norms. Thus, norms are expected standards of behavior and beliefs established, agreed upon and enforced by group members.
They are the group's unspoken rules and represent shared ways of viewing the world.
Over time these norms become part of our social cognition, thus directing the way we perceive and interpret and react to the environment around us. Thus societal norms may aid in achieving one’s goals while at times it may also hinder it.
