What is mean by convergent thinking?

Thinking is defined as manipulation of mental representations of information. Thus transforming a particular information into new forms thus enabling us to answer a question or solve a problem.
J.P. Guilford, a pioneer in creative research, propounded two types of thinking, convergent and divergent thinking.
In divergent thinking the individual will probe into different answers to the questions or problems in terms of his/her knowledge or experience. It facilitates the generation of a variety of ideas which might not seem related.
Convergent thinking, process required to solve problems which have just one probable “correct” answer. The ability to produce responses based on knowledge and logic. The thinker here gathers information related to the problem and thus using problem solving techniques comes to the right solution.
