What is Female Musicians
Women in music, such as composers, songwriters, instrumentalists, musicians, conductors, music scholars, music educators, music critics/music journalists, and other fields of music. Also, it describes the movement of music (e.g., women's music, which is music written and performed by women by women), events and genres related to women, women's issues, and femininity.
In the 2010s, while women performed a large part of popular music and classical music, as well as a significant number of songwriters (mostly non-songwriters and songwriters), there were a few female copywriters, rock critics, and instrumentalists. Popular pop artists such as Bjork and Lady Gaga commented on racism and sexism in the music industry. Furthermore, a recent study led by Dr. Smith declared that "... six years ago, the representation of women in the music industry was very low". In classical music, although there have been a large number of female composers from the Middle Ages to the present day, female composers are less prominent in classical music, music history books, and music encyclopedias;
