Conflict theory is a perspective in sociology that explains social change as the result of the conflicts between the different groups and different social institutions. He says that the whole social life is a conflict for the available scarce resource, which eventually develops power relations. Discrimination maintains the social order through holding power by staying in the higher positions of the society. A conflict perspective is a macro-level approach. It tells that society is made up of individuals who are into different classes. They will compete for social, material, and political resources like food, clothing, employment, power, etc. The social institutions prevailing in society reflect these social interactions in their inequalities that prevail, which helps to maintain the unequal social structure. In this scenario, some individual groups and people and the organization acquire more resources in society, which then gain authority and power. Through the help of this power, these groups and organizations maintain the social order in society. For example, in the pre-industrial society, the church is the one that has the power to maintain the social order. After the post-industrialized society, the capitalist who holds the economic power and the state that holds the political and legitimate power maintains the social order in the society.
