What is a proglacial lake?
Lakes are freshwater reservoirs formed out of different types of geological activities.
Proglacial lakes are part of the lake of the mountainous landscape. The melted water from the retreating glaciers is the source of proglacial lakes. They are formed when the unconsolidated debris or the moraine stops the glacial melt from seeping out. Similarly, it is also formed in the margins of melting ice sheets. Valleys present behind the moraines of receding glacier is the spot of proglacial lakes.
