Through the establishment of an open and level playing field for online services and content providers, these rules seek to guarantee that all data on the internet is transported impartially and without interference. Practises like blocking, slowing, or paying to prioritise internet traffic are generally forbidden by net neutrality laws. Maintaining an open and free internet where consumers may access whatever information and services they choose without being restricted by their ISPs is the aim.
