Gene Interactions
When the expression of a single trait is influenced by two or more different non-allelic genes, it is termed as genetic interaction. According to Mendel's law of inheritance, each gene functions in its own way and does not depend on the function of another gene, i.e., a single gene controls each of seven characteristics considered, but the complex contribution of many different genes determine many traits of an organism.
Gene Expression
Gene expression is a process by which the instructions present in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are converted into useful molecules such as proteins, and functional messenger ribonucleic (mRNA) molecules in the case of non-protein-coding genes.
What events does the RecA protein facilitate?
Introduction
DNA strands is composed of nucleotide base pairs sequence such as Adenine, guanine cytosine and thymine. Adenine pairs with thymine while guanine pairs with cytosine. If there is any deletion takes place in one or more pair of nucleotides gets deleted or altered this can lead to serious mutations and thus diseases or any abnormalities can occur in the normal functioning. These mutations can occur by factors such as physical factors (Radiation), chemical factors such as dyes etc.
However, our cells have DNA repair system which helps in correction of these deleted of altered base pairing in the DNA. There are various repairs methods such as Direct repair, excision repair, SOS repair etc. which are catalysed by various enzymes (photolyase, DNA ligase etc.) and proteins such as Rec A protein.
