The ancient name of Thebes was Wase or Wo'se. The town (province) of Wase, the fourth of Upper Egypt, is thought to own existed from the fourth kinfolk onward.
Thebes was Egypt's capital throughout the New Kingdom (1570-c. 1069 BCE). It became a crucial center of worship of the god Amun (also called Egyptian deity or Egyptian deity, a mix of the sooner gods Atum and Ra). Its sacred name was P-Amen or Pa-Amen that means "the abode of Amen."
It was legendary to the Egyptians as Wase or Wo'se (the town) and Usast or Waset (the southern city) and was designed on either aspect of the Nile with the most city on the east bank the large graveyard on the west.
Thebes is continuing as a crucial cult center and place of journeying throughout Egypt's history, even once the capital was captive to Per-Ramesses (near the older town of Averi’s) by Ramesses II (1279-1213 BCE). Throughout the Ramessid amount, the clergymen of Amun dominated from Thebes, whereas the Pharaoh of Egypt ruled from Per-Ramesses.
