What do you see on the internet or commercials for children’s toys/activities? What gender is in a commercial about cars and trucks or dolls?  Are there specific colors, words, sounds used depending on the type of toy?  How “gendered” were the toys and activities available to you? Do you remember gender expectations being conveyed through the approval or disapproval of your playtime choice? Do you think parents treat sons and daughters differently? In what ways? How do sons and daughters typically respond to this treatment?

Expert Solution
Step 1

We often come across advertisement of toys and activities for kids. These activities and toys attract lot of kids as well as their parents to follow it. Many times they follow the societal pattern and norms and sometimes they recreate the normal societal norm in a different way.

We always see that cars, trucks, cricket kit, sword and such toys are shown for boys where they are shown playing it outside their home and jumping and doing adventures stuff.

On the other hand dolls, kitchen set, Barbie dolls and such toys are shown for girls where they are shown playing it in their home with beautiful frocks and bows on their head.

Pink and blue socialization is very common. We associate girls with pink and boys with blue. This color distinction is so engraved in own mind that we hardly think out of it.
