By using the following 3 commands, you can display which shell you are in :

1. echo "$SHELL"

e.g. echo "My current shell is $SHELL ($0)"

2. ps -p $$.

Here $ returns PID(Process Identification Number) of the current process and the current process in your shell. So running a ps on that number, displays a process status listing on your shell. In that listing, you will find the name of your shell.

3. echo $0
