This brief systematic review presents the data from 30 research that demonstrate the value of occupational therapy (OT) in promoting independent living in one's home securely. Many older persons have at least one handicap, which might jeopardise their safety and independence. Injuries and falls also increase healthcare expenses, which may include housing in nursing homes. The change from living at home to living in a long-term care facility has a significant impact on participation in and performance in the workplace. Supporting ageing in place improves a person's independence, quality of life, and safety in their home. We examined the efficacy of numerous occupational therapy interventions that focused on occupational performance and engagement, quality of life, falls, and hospitalisation in order to facilitate ageing in place.
