Aging is the process of becoming older. Cells are the basic unit of life. In higher eukaryotic organisms such as humans, tissues and organs are maintained by the continuous division of somatic cells through mitosis. The number of cell divisions is limited in normal cells.
The terminal part of the chromosome, also known as the telomere shortens with every division. Cell division terminates with the disappearance of the telomere. This is the cellular level events of aging. Aging is a common biological process in all living organisms.
