Introduction

The signed integers can represent zero, positive and negative integers. There are basically three representation schemes that are available for signed integers:

Signed Magnitude representation
One's Complement representation
Two's Complement representation

In all the above three schemes, the most significant bit(MSB) is called the sign bit which is used to represent the sign of the integer where 0 is used for positive integers and 1 is for negative integers. The only difference in the above schemes is how they are represented in terms of magnitude.

An n bit signed integer can represent integers from the range -2^(n-1) to 2^(n-1).
