What are the pathways by which taste sensations reach the
brain?
Taste sensation referred to as the sense of taste that causes the taste bud present in the tongue to convey the signals to the brain.
There are three nerve that is responsible for carrying the signals to the brain stem these nerves include-
Chorda tympani nerve-this nerve carry the signal from the front of the tongue.
The glossopharyngeal nerve-this nerve carries the signal from the back of the tongue.
Vagus nerve-this nerve carries the signal from the throat area and the palate.
The trigeminal nerve is responsible for carrying the signal related to touch, temperature and pain. These taste signals get associated in the brain stem region involved in arousal and then associate with the smell signals present within the brain to produce the sensation of flavours.
