Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party entirely changed the political scene of Germany. His rule marked the start of dictatorship, and this will end the relative peace and stability of the world, and the world will witness the second world war.
Explanation
Hitler joined the German Workers' Party(DAP) in 1919. His aims included the overthrow of the Republic and capture of power by the far-right. Adolf Hitler and his National Socialists(Nazi) carried out great propaganda campaigns blaming the Government for all Germany's ills.
The collapse of the Weimer Republic set the political stage for Hitler's arrival. Hitler and his party provided the attractive alternative just when the Republic was at its most ineffective, especially in handling the economic collapse.
Hitler's goals-
- The Nazis offered national unity, full employment, and prosperity. They wanted to eliminate the state's enemies- Marxists, Jesuits, Jews, and those who had accepted the Versailles treaty's terms.
- Build Germany into a great power again by bringing all Germans(Austria, Poland, and Czechoslovakia) into the Reich. His expansionist policy included Lebensraum(living space).The hated Versailles settlement had to go.
- Hostility to communism and this policy got support from wealthy classes in Germany.
- Hitler's race theory and the Germans' superiority and inferiority of Slavs, people of color, and especially the Jews, wanted to end the non-Aryan race.
- He wished to organize every aspect of the masses' lives through Gleichschaltung(forceful co-ordination), creating a totalitarian state.
- Greatness could be achieved only through war, and to fulfill this, the nation was organized on a military footing.
Hitler's expansionist policies, his overthrow of the Versailles settlement, and his racial theories had already started creating an atmosphere of tensions and conflicts. To fulfill his aim of creating a new world order with Germans as the master race, he organized institutional killings of millions of Jews. He started acquiring territories, and his dominance begun spreading in Eastern Europe. The Great Depression allowed him to start building his arms and ammunition.
