It is more like the concept of eco-tourism, but instead of the environment, the primary focus is developing life. Voluntourism is not like going to a place and buying gifts to help the locality; this may not be helping them. It is more like taking part in their daily activities which will bring development in long run.
The agenda is a new venture where community and sustainability have gained the researcher’s attention. This industry has boomed since 2005 and has impacted slowly worldwide. Volunteer tourism seeks many good opportunities for the volunteer, but the locals also have some effects.
The exotic travel destination may not have a good health infrastructure or management policy; these volunteers help them to seek that. They perform several activities which will help the locals to standardize their lifestyle. The volunteer can assist the financially, educationally, and professionally as well.
Though there are some cons in this process, all the companies that hold these programs are reliable. Secondly, external help is making the locals very much dependent on the outer world.
