INTRODUCTION

Socialization is a kind of process in which an individual is inculcated with the values, norms of his respective society. He was directed to exhibit his behavior according to the norms and values of that particular society. Socialization is a lifelong process where-in different institutions of society enter the context to socialize the individual at different stages of his life.

EXPLANATION

There are many agencies that have an impact on the individual directly or indirectly throughout the whole socialization process. But, there are mainly five agencies of socialization,

1. Family: the process of socialization starts with the family from the initial phase. An individual is born with some genetically transmitted abilities. The family shapes Their abilities in accordance with the culture they follow. Every individual is incubated with the beliefs and values of the family religion and customs, and in the later phase, he will be taught the behavioral aspects like the behavior that he should exhibit in the larger public domain.

2. Peer groups: peer groups play a major role in the next phase of socialization. When an individual attains teenage, he will be much influenced by his peer group's behavior. He exhibits his behavior in solidarity with the other individuals of the peer group. He acquires the virtues of co-operation and mutual understanding from the peer groups.

3. School: the school becomes the early phase of formal socialization. He is socialized with the values and norms, customs, and beliefs of the larger society. He is also taught academic information to develop his knowledge skills.

4. Books: In literate societies, books play a major role in socializing the individual. The individual is exposed to different fields of theoretical formulations. The authors of the books join as the instructors in this phase of socialization.

5. Mass media: it includes the radio and television, which have its tremendous influence on an individual's socialization process. The internet in modern society also plays a major role in the socialization process. in the most cases, mass media has such an influence that it even sweeps away all the virtues socialized in the earlier phases.
