We learned a method for multiplying two complex numbers written in polar form. But, you learned how to multiply complex numbers in rectangular form back in Pre Calc. Below, I will do an example showing how you get the same answer either way. Your task is to make up your own example and do the work showing that YOU get the same answer. Make sure to show all your steps!

My example: Multiply
(3+ 41) (-2 + 5i)
"Old Way": -- 6 - 81 + 151 + 20i2
- - 26 + 71
(Here, I am simply foiling)
"New Way": (3 + 41) is in rectangular form.
Changing to polar form: 5 ( cos 53.13 degrees +i sin 53.13 degrees)
(-2 + 51) is SqRt 29( cos 111.8 degrees + i sin 111.8 degrees)
Multiplying these two in polar form gives us 5 SqRt 29 ( cos 164.93 degrees +i sin 164.93 degrees) - -26 + 71 !!
