  • equate f'(x) to 0 to find the critical points.
  • Find the second derivative and put the critical points.

                 if the value comes out to be positive you got a relative minimum.

                if the value comes out to be negative you got a relative maximum.

                if it is 0 then no minimum or maximum there.
