Type of Manual control on scrap machine
A shaper machine is used for the machining of flat surfaces. It works in the forward stroke and the reverse stroke is the nonworking stroke. Various types of controls are done manually on the machine such as length of forwarding stroke, feed rate, and adjustment of the table.
In the fig, a shaper machine is shown and we discuss the various manual controls of the shaper machine.
Adjusting the forward working stroke –
In the forward stroke, the ram holds the cutting tool firmly and erodes the surface of the object. The length of the forward stroke depends on the length of the job. To change the length of the stroke we have to drive the pivot on the bull gear and adjust it accordingly./A quick return mechanism is used in the shaper which allows the shaper to reduce the speed in the forward stroke and increases the speed in the return stroke.
