Expert Solution
Why elephants are at greater risk?

With the recent count of 40,000-50,000 left in the wild, the species is now classified as endangered. It is critical to conserving both African as well as Asian elephants as they both play a very crucial role in their respective ecosystems and also they contribute a lot towards community incomes and tourism in many areas.

The greatest threat to African elephants is because of wildlife crime and poaching for the trade of ivory whereas to that of Asian elephants is due to habitat loss which finally leads to human-elephant conflicts.
