It can be mathematically represented as :

Molarity(M) = number of moles of solute(n) /volume of solution in litres(V) 

 

M= n/V         ••••••(1) 

 

Unit of molarity is molar written as M. 1 molar is equivalent to 1 mol/L

1 M = 1 mol/L

Molarity = 0.250 M = 0.250 mol/L

 

Number of moles  are related to mass and molar mass as follows :

Number of moles (n) = mass(m) /molar mass(M)
