What are the normal operating conditions in terms of temperatures, loadings, impacts, corrosive media, etc.? Are there any unusual extremes? 2. What are the major properties or characteristics that the material must possess in order for the product to function? 3. What current material is used for this product or component? What material (or materials) would you suggest and why? 4. How might you propose to fabricate this product? 5. Would the product require heat treatment? For what purpose? What kind of treatment? 6. Would this product require any surface treatment or coating? For what purpose? What would you recommend? 7. What type of failure this product/part is exposed to? How to carry out the inspection and prevention of this failure damage? 8. Would there be any concerns relating to environment? Recycling? Product liability?
