The usefulness of emojis in fine-tuning the tone of business writing outweighs the perception of lazy writing and confusion over meaning. It depends on what sense you're using the emojis, for example at my job, my managers, leads and other coworkers use emojis. I think we do use them because it allows us to react to certain messages without having to type a whole paragraph about the topic. I also agree with the text above that says that it can allow more of a friendly tone to some messages that might seem rude or not friendly at all. Something else is that I feel like if you're going to use emojis you should know your team and be able to recognize if they're comfortable enough or if it's appropriate to use them with the team around you and won't cause any misunderstanding between coworkers. If the emojis can add another tone to the message that is appropriate to what's being discussed I do not believe that there would be any harm in using them to give further context or tone to the message.
