The famous Stanford Prison Experiment (SPE) was a two-week study designed and conducted by Professor Philip Zimbardo in the year 1971 to find the effect of environment on the behavior of individuals. However, due to the unethical nature of the study, it was cancelled in just 6 days. It was essentially a simulation where certain participants pretended to be prisoners while others were trained to be guards and their interaction within the setting was observed.
