Question

The process of using _____________ entails taking a big problem, and breaking it into smaller goals.

Expert Solution
Step 1

Most times a problem may seem impossible to tackle at first, however when we take a problem and start breaking it into smaller pieces with smaller goals, it begins to feel like an achievable task. For instance, a professional baker has 4 hours to bake a 4 tier cake and cupcakes for a client who called in for an emergency delivery. The professional baker at first thinks it to be an impossible task to complete it in four hours. However, she takes 10 minutes and begins to think about the problem at hand. She breaks down the whole process into smaller pieces and starts thinking of smaller goals. For instance, she starts calculating the amount of time it will take to prepare the ingredients and batter for the cake and cupcake. She decides on making both the cupcake and the cake batter vanilla flavored instead of doing different flavored cakes and batches as she will save some time. She then calculates the time taken for baking and cooling of cakes, she decides to make the frosting while the cake is baking and cooling. She comes with alternative solutions to make this task achievable. She eventually decides that it is not that big a task and that she can make the delivery in four hours.
