Spontaneous Reactions- Favorable reactions are those that cause the system's enthalpy to drop while its entropy rises. The reaction happens naturally when both of these conditions are true. A spontaneous reaction is one that favors the creation of products under the reaction's current conditions. A blaze that is raging is an exothermic example of a spontaneous reaction. Gases like carbon dioxide and water vapor make up a portion of the fire's byproducts. A combustion reaction results in an increase in the system's entropy. Combustion reactions must be spontaneous reactions due to the combined effects of energy loss and entropy gain.

Non-Spontaneous Reactions- A nonspontaneous reaction is one that, under the specified conditions, does not favour the creation of products. A reaction must be endothermic, followed by a reduction in entropy, or both in order to be considered nonspontaneous. The majority of the gases that make up our atmosphere are a combination of nitrogen and oxygen.
